Viewpointe to Offer Fiserv FraudGuard™ Check Fraud Detection Capabilities to National Image Archive Customers
VIEWPOINTE TO OFFER FISERV FRAUDGUARD™ CHECK FRAUD DETECTION CAPABILITIES TO NATIONAL IMAGE ARCHIVE CUSTOMERS
New Applications Enable Large Financial Institutions to Extract More Value From Their Existing Image Capability
New Orleans, LA - Viewpointe Archive Services, LLC, a leading provider of document storage and retrieval solutions for financial institutions, announced today that it will add the Fiserv FraudGuardTM fraud detection suite to its image product portfolio in order to assist Viewpointe customers in the fight against check fraud.
“Check fraud is an estimated $12 billion problem that impacts the banking industry, merchants and, ultimately, consumers,” said John Lettko, Chairman and CEO of Viewpointe. “Viewpointe’s image technology, coupled with Fiserv’s industry-leading fraud detection applications, takes fraud prevention to the next level.”
“Preventing fraud is a matter of time and technology,” said Norm Balthasar, Fiserv Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “Fiserv has developed extremely effective and unique solutions that can be essential in fraud prevention. We are delighted that some of the largest banks in the U.S. will be able to utilize our tools through their Viewpointe image archive relationship.”
The following FraudGuard applications will be offered as optional services to Viewpointe customers. All will be integrated within the Viewpointe archive architecture – enabling banks to incorporate the latest fraud detection technology into their image strategy.
FraudGuard Positive PayPLUS – Detects counterfeit and altered checks. Enhances traditional positive pay by automatically reviewing payee line information from a check image, in addition to check number and dollar amount, and comparing it with the “checks issued” file provided by a financial institution’s customer.
FraudGuard Positive PayPLUS with Secure Seal – Provides an alternative type of positive pay system by sending the issue file information embedded on the check. Check information is encoded into a Secure Seal that is printed on the check – as a logo or other unobtrusive design – as it is issued. During processing, information from the Secure Seal is compared with the check image.
FraudGuard Digital Signature Verification – Automatically detects forged or missing signatures. Over time, the system digitally clips signatures from previously paid check images to create a signature profile. Complex algorithms then compare the computed signatures on new items presented for payment against the signature profile.
FraudGuard Decision Support – Fully integrated with all other FraudGuard applications, Decision Support enables online viewing of exceptions generated by other FraudGuard applications for “pay/no pay” decisioning.
Upon the integration of the tools into the archive infrastructure, banks utilizing the Viewpointe national archive will be able to subject all or a subset of their check images to a series of fraud detection processes at the time the image is loaded to the archive -regardless of the capture bank. That is, “an important feature in a paper truncated world,” Lettko said.
"Viewpointe continues to provide our financial customers new ways to extract more value out of their imaging investment,” Lettko said. “Viewpointe is helping our customers leverage their imaging investment by integrating the latest technologies into our archive infrastructure – and, in this case, making the process of fraud detection seamless and efficient. The Viewpointe solution allows for rapid implementation, yet provides long-term value as the industry moves to paper truncation."
