BB&T Selects Viewpointe For Check Image Archiving
BB&T SELECTS VIEWPOINTE FOR CHECK IMAGE ARCHIVING
January, 8, 2003 WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Viewpointe Archive Services, LLC and BB&T Corporation (NYSE: BBT) today said that BB&T has signed a long-term agreement to use Viewpointe’s check image archiving technology.
Viewpointe’s national image archive will allow BB&T to electronically store and rapidly access financial document images. It will help BB&T lower check processing costs and greatly improve client service.
“Check imaging provides a valuable service to our clients who need to access information about their transactions anytime, anywhere,” said Leon Wilson, BB&T’s Operations Division manager. “Viewpointe provides the expertise, experience and industry leadership that will enable us to provide these services quickly through our multiple client delivery channels.”
Viewpointe’s imaging services will enable BB&T to better serve its retail and commercial customers by providing immediate access to their check information. And Viewpointe’s image exchange program will eliminate costs and inefficiencies associated with the transportation and duplicate processing of paper-based payments.
“By joining many of our peer banks in the Viewpointe archive, we’ll not only be providing a tremendous service to our clients, but we’ll also be making a significant contribution to the financial services industry and its momentum to check electronification,” Wilson said.
“With Viewpointe managing both the storage of our check images as well as its national archive for the industry, we’re free to focus our energy and talents on providing the BB&T brand of highly attentive, personal service to our clients.”
Viewpointe is the leading provider of check and document image archiving and retrieval services to large financial institutions. Viewpointe’s customer list includes BB&T Corporation, Bank of America, First Tennessee National Bank, FleetBoston Financial Corporation, HSBC Bank USA, J.P. Morgan Chase & Company, SunTrust Bank, U.S. Bancorp and Zions Bank.
“BB&T is a highly respected financial institution that is well known for making prudent technology decisions,” said Viewpointe Chairman and CEO John Lettko. “BB&T’s participation in our national archive boosts our market penetration in the East and will broaden the benefits of our image exchange program.”
